Malaysia\u2019s pending approval on palm tocotrienol\u2019s antioxidant claims could help consumers gain a better understanding of the locally grown crop\u2019s health benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Malaysia is one of the world\u2019s largest palm oil producer, alongside Indonesia. Although there has been scientific evidence showing tocotrienol-rich palm oil\u2019s health benefits, the knowledge is largely confined within some groups of the healthcare professionals and consumers using the product.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

However, an upcoming regulatory change which allows products containing tocotrienol rich fraction (TRF) to make certain health claims could change the situation.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In June this year, the Ministry of Health Malaysia\u2019s Food Safety and Quality Division <\/span>opened a public consultation<\/a> on changes proposed to the Food Regulations 1985.<\/span><\/p>\n
